Terms of Use

Last updated: 12 October 2026

These terms cover your use of the Kindwake app on iPhone and Android, and the kindwake.app website. By using Kindwake you agree to them. We've kept them short and in plain English.

The short version

  • Kindwake is free to download. Locking your apps needs a subscription, which starts with a free trial.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You cancel in the App Store or Google Play, not in the app.
  • An emergency unlock is always there, so you can open any app if you truly need it.
  • Be kind in Circles. We can remove posts or people who aren't.
  • Kindwake is a wellbeing tool, not medical advice.

Who we are

Kindwake ("we", "us") is an independent app. You can reach us at kindwake@proton.me.

Using Kindwake

You can use Kindwake for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, interfere with how it works, or use it to break the law. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 13.

Subscriptions and free trials

Kindwake is free to download. Locking your apps needs a Kindwake subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you subscribe.

App blocking

Kindwake locks the apps you choose until you finish your morning ritual. On iPhone it uses Apple's Screen Time. On Android it uses Usage access and Display over other apps, which you turn on yourself.

We work hard to make blocking reliable, but phones change and we can't promise it will work perfectly on every device, every time. An emergency unlock is always available, so please use it whenever you need an app, especially for anything urgent, safety-related or work-critical. Kindwake isn't responsible for something you miss while an app was locked.

Circles

Circles let you share your gratitude with a small group you invite. You're responsible for what you share. Please don't post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexual, or that shares someone else's private information without their permission.

You can hide posts, block people and report posts in the app. We review reports and may remove content or remove someone from Circles if they break these rules. You keep ownership of what you write. By sharing it in a circle, you let us store it and show it to the members of that circle.

Creator codes

If you enter a creator's code, that creator is credited if you subscribe, and they can see your first name and your progress, as explained in our Privacy Policy.

Not medical advice

Kindwake is designed to support a calmer morning routine. It isn't a medical device and doesn't give medical, psychological or therapeutic advice. If you're struggling, please talk to a doctor or a qualified professional.

Your data

How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy. Your ritual entries stay on your device and your own backup.

Changes and availability

We keep improving Kindwake, so features may change, and we may stop offering parts of it. If we make important changes to these terms, we'll update the date at the top and, where it matters, tell you in the app.

Our responsibility to you

Kindwake is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for Kindwake in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't legally be limited, or our liability for anything that can't be excluded by law.

Ending your use

You can stop using Kindwake at any time by deleting the app and cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or end access for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim there.
